2010 Essex Institute

Essex Institute for
Independent School Enrollment Management

Challenging times demand creative solutions.  For more than 20 years The Essex Institute has expanded the concept of enrollment management, bringing together independent school admission professionals and colleagues to develop plans for strengthening enrollment and enhancing the overall promotion of their schools. The four-day, three-night program is unique for independent school enrollment managers in combining presentations with opportunites for collaborative conversation, problem solving, and strategic planning in a non-competitive, supportive environment. Schools are strongly encouraged to send teams, and groups work together to discuss issues of common concern.

Comments from past Essex Participants

  • “The round table discussions are extremely helpful and beneficial.  They really provide an opportunity to hear what the group as a whole thinks about particular topics.  The flow of Essex is excellent and we get an opportunity to address our individual topics."
  • “The Essex format is wonderful.  The chance to use Essex as a retreat and to reinvigorate ourselves and relax is very important."
  • "I love the open-ended format.  It is great to be able to go off on tangents as conversation flows."
  • “The format encourages an in-depth exchange of ideas.  Essex reinforces collaboration, not competition."
  • “I value the fact that the participants decide what is discussed.  Twenty years seems to have honed the format to perfection.”
  • “Wonderful site.  What's not to like?"
